Bye, Bye Blog

Well I’m afraid I have decided to call it a day. After a very short-lived blogging experience I have not been as successful as I would have hoped. I did enjoy writing and I hope whoever did read my blog posts realises how grateful I am. Maybe I will come back one day? Who knows? But after much consideration I have decided blogging is not for me… back to the journal it is♥

I’m not an old lady, it’s called having a retro perspective…

I am often told I am like an old lady – I like to knit, I often call people dear or sweetpea and would rather drink tea than vodka like many others my age.

My friends often tell me I sound older than your average teenager especially when I go on about how advanced technology is these days. Truth is, I really cannot believe how modern and technological things are now-a-days! I remember when we had big boxy televisions, listened to walkmans and had to rewind our videos after we watched them.

That was only about ten years ago too! It’s scary how much things have developed. I prefer old films and music to new, modern creations so I guess that is another reason I may appear old-fashioned despite being young.

I don’t mind it though, I’m happy loving old things and being thought of as old-fashioned because really, it’s just a retro perspective :)

Here’s a fabulous modern woman also sharing my enthusiasm for vintage class, Dita Von Teese;

Good ol’ telly and a surprising Valentine’s day!

I just have an urge to write so I thought I’d give you a little update on the on-goings in my life… or maybe just a little story I’m ever-so slightly excited about! Well firstly, after dreading Valentine’s Day for weeks it was not actually as bad as I had thought it would be. Nevertheless I did end up watching daft films but thankfully not alone! ♥ My date with my best friend had sadly been cancelled due to her feeling poorly  but I surprisingly did not end up alone. It was a lovely way to start the February break.

Another wonderful thing happened this week too… we won a 3D television! It was a big surprise – we never win anything! The only thing is we’re going to look like we’re from The Matrix sitting around the telly with our glasses on. However, I am sure it’ll be a thrilling experience! It’s amazing how advanced technology is these days. From good ol’ tiny tellies to big 3d ones… soon we’ll end up being able to jump into our tv and be involved in virtual life. It’s crazy!

Half a bath and Holly Golightly♥

So ever since I first saw Breakfast At Tiffany’s  I became obsessed with finding a loveseat similar to the one Holly Golightly has in her New York apartment. If you are unaware of this fabulous creation here’s a little picture:

Hopefully by now you should understand why I have been desperate to find a love-seat like this. In Breakfast at Tiffany’s Holly Golightly has violet-purple cushions in the base of the bath creating a simplistic and elegant style. It’s such an original idea to use a bath as a sofa/love-seat  - completely fabulous! So when I am successful and living on my own I shall have my very own Holly Golightly love-seat fully equipped with purple cushions in my Edinburgh apartment. Life shall be swell when I get my hands on one of these babies!

Pretty things, so what if I like pretty things♥

I don’t expect anyone to read this but the thought of people finding it and reading what I have to say is quite nice. I just like writing about the things I love. There was a point in my life where I had considered journalism as a career but soon realised my writing doesn’t really compare to others. I just enjoy writing about my obsession with Zooey Deschanel, Chanel and just whatever is on the top of my mind. I do wish I could write more though; writer’s block often occurs with me hence why the majority of my recent posts mainly feature photographs. Anyway, I don’t really have much to say but for right now I’ll leave you to have a little look at some more pictures of pretty things, toodle pip :)

Anchors Aweigh! Admiration of Frank Sinatra♥

Everyday I count down the minutes, the hours and the blocks at school for each subject to end before the bell rings for us to go home. I happily skip down the road to my auntie’s at the thought of relaxing with a cup of tea, an old film and a good wee chat. It’s always a nice end to the day, especially if it hasn’t been one of my best.

We frequently watch old films when I visit after school. I think my favourite to date was “Anchors Aweigh!” with Gene Kelly and Frank Sinatra. The dance sequences and the humour were just brilliant not to mention the elegance of the women and the beauty of Kelly and Sinatra. Ever since we watched that film my love and admiration for Sinatra has grown, along with the rest of The Rat Pack. I was always a fan of Dean Martin but I can now say I fully appreciate them altogether. I adore 1940s, 50s and 60s music♥

What’s your favourite era of the 20th century? :)

Romantic old films♥

So Valentine’s day is coming up and it is yet another year of having to endure it’s lovey mush from a single person’s perspective. I guess it’s harder now due to the fact over the past year I have developed into a hopeless romantic through my admiration of Paris, old films and love of cheesey 1980s songs. I just want to be Deborah Kerr in An Affair To Remember meeting my true love out of coincidence and perhaps fate. I wouldn’t mind my true love to be a modern day version of the classic Cary Grant either. All I know is, I’ll most likely be sitting in my room accompanied by Ben, Jerry, Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks sitting next to a box of tissues.

See what all of these silly romantic films have done to me? I’ve developed a love for love…

or perhaps similarly to Meg in Sleepless in Seattle – “You don’t want to be in love. You want to be in love in a movie.”
